Botulinum toxin: treatment information and fees
Botulinum toxin is one possible option following a consultation for lines and wrinkles. This page explains the treatment and its fees so you can discuss it with Lisa and make an informed decision.
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin type A is a prescription-only medicine injected into selected muscles to temporarily reduce their activity. It is different from dermal filler, which adds volume.
Lisa uses Bocouture. Its licensed use covers moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults under 65 where those lines have an important psychological impact. Assessment is needed to establish whether it is appropriate for you.
Timing and limitations
The Bocouture product information describes onset at around two to three days for frown lines, within six days for crow’s feet and within seven days for forehead lines. Maximum effect is described at day 30, with effects lasting up to four months. Individual responses vary.
The effect is temporary. A particular result or complete removal of lines cannot be guaranteed. Repeat treatment requires reassessment; the product information specifies at least three months between treatment courses.
When treatment may be unsuitable
Treatment must not be given if you have an allergy to its ingredients, certain muscle or nerve disorders, or infection or inflammation at the injection site.
Tell Lisa about all medicines, previous reactions, swallowing difficulties and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Cosmetic treatment is not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The service is for adults aged 18 and over.
Possible side effects
Side effects can include pain, swelling or bruising where injected, headache, dry eyes, eyelid or eyebrow drooping and uneven facial movement. Some effects may last until the medicine wears off. This is not a complete list.
Rare serious reactions include severe allergy and effects from toxin spreading beyond the injection site. Seek urgent medical help for breathing, swallowing or speech difficulties. Call 999 for severe breathing difficulty or signs of a severe allergic reaction.
Lisa will discuss individual risks and provide the product leaflet and aftercare instructions before treatment. Aftercare and concerns

Your two-week review
Where treatment is provided following consultation, a two-week review is included in the original treatment fee.
The review allows Lisa to assess the treatment response. If Lisa considers an adjustment clinically appropriate at that review, it is included in the original fee.
Additional treatment is not automatic or guaranteed. Any decision will be based on clinical assessment.
Further patient information
Read the Bocouture patient information leaflet (opens in a new tab) for the full product information. This page supports discussion with Lisa and does not replace your consultation.
The two-week review is a clinical check, rather than a guarantee that the maximum effect has been reached. Lisa will assess any further action against the product information and your treatment response.
